The S&P BSE Sensex made a smart recovery

The S&P BSE Sensex made a smart recovery from early morning losses to gain over 100 points on Friday, led by gains in Infosys, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma and Lupin.

The Nifty50 was trading above its support level of 7,850, supported by gains in power, consumer durable, capital goods, and banking stocks.

ONGC, Tata Steel, Hindalco, Infosys and Cipla are top gainers while ICICI Bank, M&M, TCS, Axis Bank and Bajaj Auto are losers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee has opened marginally higher at 66.48 a dollar on Friday compared to 66.52 per dollar in previous session.

Share Market News | Super Calls

The market has opened lower on April Future & Options expiry day as global cues weigh on India. The Sensex is down 20.47 points at 26043.65 and the Nifty is down 11.45 points at 7968.45. About 292 shares have advanced, 163 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged.

Bharti Airtel, Cipla, ONGC, Sun Pharma and Coal India are top gainers in the Sensex while Maruti, Infosys, ITC, HDFC and Reliance are losers.

The Nifty has hit fresh high

The Nifty has hit fresh high of 2016 as the 50-share index is up 18.60 points or 0.2 percent at 7981.25.

The Sensex is up 41.62 points or 0.2 percent at 26048.92 About 1110 shares have advanced, 540 shares declined, and 95 shares are unchanged.

ONGC, Tata Motors, Matuti, ITC and Hero are top gainers while Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Lupin and HDFC are losers in the Sensex.

The market has opened lower as the Sensex is down 77.87 points or 0.3 percent at 25601.06. The Nifty is down 21.90 points or 0.3 percent at 7833.15. About 313 shares have advanced, 357 shares declined, and 32 shares are unchanged.

Hindalco, Bharti, Tata Steel, M&M and Axis Bank are top gainers while ICICI Bank, ITC, GAIL, Maruti and Hero are losers in the Sensex.

The Indian rupee has opened marginally lower at 66.72 a dollar compared to 66.61 a dollar in previous session.

Stock view | Market News | Top Calls

Stock view:  Credit Suisse has initiated coverage on TVS Motor with an underperform rating. The brokerage firm has a target of Rs 260 per share, indicating 20 percent downside. It believes that TVS Motor is unlikely to meet street expectations of a 300 basis points margin improvement over the next two years.

Credit Suisse is not very upbeat on the two-wheeler sector. It feels that though a  good monsoon and pick-up in the pace of the economic recovery augurs well for auto volumes, four-wheelers stand to benefit more. "Four-wheelers also have a much higher operating leverage once volumes bounce back," it states in a report.

Get Daily Free Calls and Market Tips

The market is in a consolidation mode with the Nifty hovering around 7900. The 50-share index is down 8 points or 0.1 percent at 7904.05. The Sensex is down 16.68 points at 25863.70.

Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Maruti and Tata Motors are gainers while BHEL, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Bharti and HDFc are losers in the Sensex.

The rupee depreciated by 15 paise to quote at 66.55 against the dollar on increased demand for the American currency from importers and banks. Dealers said a firm dollar against some global currencies overseas and a lower opening of the domestic equity market weighed.

The rupee had dropped by 18 paise to end at 66.40 in yesterday's trade on fresh demand for the US dollar from banks and importers despite weakness in the greenback overseas.

The market has opened strong riding high on global markets. The Sensex is up 121.41 points or 0.5 percent at 25965.59, and the Nifty is up 41.60 points or 0.5 percent at 7956.35. The 50-share index is at 2016 high, crossing January 1 high 7972. About 401 shares have advanced, 77 shares declined, and 22 shares are unchanged.

ICICI Bank is up 6 percent while SBI, Tata Steel, Axis Bank and GAIL are top gainers. Wipro falls 5 percent.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 10 paise at 66.32 per dollar against previous close of 66.22. Dollar edged up against a basket of major currencies. Euro flat ahead of the ECB meet today.

Share Market Daily News & Top Morning Calls

Equity benchmarks turned volatile after strong opening on Wednesday. The 30-share BSE Sensex opened more than 100 points higher but could not sustain entire gains.

The index rose 53.10 points to 25869.46 and the 50-share NSE Nifty advanced 7.15 points to 7921.85.

The Indian rupee gained in the early trade today. It has opened higher by 28 paise at 66.27 per dollar versus 66.55 Monday.

Bansi Madhavani of India Ratings feels weaker dollar is likely to aid EM currencies.

The Sensex rose 126.36 points to 25753.11

The Sensex rose 126.36 points to 25753.11 and the Nifty advanced 37.90 points to 7888.35, led by Infosys and ITC. About 1227 shares advanced against 865 declining shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.

Buzzing: Shares of  Gravita India rose 4.3 percent intraday as it has started commercial production of aluminium alloys. The company has made an entry into aluminium recycling at its new recycling plant at Phagi, Jaipur with an initial capacity of 6000 MTPA of aluminium alloy production.

Oil Update: Crude oil futures fell sharply by Rs 129 to Rs 2,569 per barrel today as speculators cut down their bets amid weak cues from the Asian markets after Doha output talks failed.

The S&P BSE Sensex rallied over 400 points

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex rallied over 400 points in morning trade on Wednesday, led by gains in ICICI Bank, ITC, RIL, HDFC, L&T, and Wipro. 

The rally in markets was largely led by surplus monsoon forecast by the weather office this year after two consecutive droughts. 

The Nifty50 reclaimed its crucial level resistance level of 7800 supported by gains in IT, realty, power, oil & gas, banks and auto stocks.

The market started off week on a flat-to-positive note. The Sensex rose 41.81 points to 24715.65 and the Nifty advanced 13.35 points to 7568.55.

Bharti Airtel topped buying list on Sensex, up 3.11 percent after acquisition of 4G spectrum rights from Aircel for 8 circles for Rs 3,500 crore.

BHEL rose 1.6 percent after a media report indicated that NTPC’s Bangla JV awarded EPC contract to company for USD 2.4 billion. Sun Pharma was up 1.44 percent on USFDA approval for BromSite.

ONGC, Adani Ports, Tata Motors and Idea Cellular were other gainers while Infosys, Cipla, M&M, HDFC, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Wipro and BPCL were losers.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 3 paise at 66.50 per dollar today against 66.47 Friday.
