Market update: 62 stocks hit new 52-week high on NSE; Yes Bank, IOC top gainers, ICICI drags

Indian benchmark indices were trading flat in the afternoon trade with the Nifty marginally up 0.07 percent, up 7.45 points while the Sensex was still trading in the red, down 18 points at 33023.74. The midcap index outperformed the broader indices in the afternoon trade which added 0.46 percent led by IFCI, IDBI Bank, HPCL, India Cements, Steel Authority of India and Petronet LNG.

The Bank Nifty was marginally in the red but Yes Bank ahead of its Q2 numbers gained 2.88 percent. However, Canara Bank and ICICI Bank were the top losers in the banking index.

From the Nifty50, the stocks which gained the most were BPCL which gained over 4 percent followed by Yes Bank, HPCL, Cipla and Indian Oil Corporation which gained over 2 percent each. On the other hand, HCL Tech, Indiabulls Housing Finance, ICICI Bank, Power Grid and Bharti Infratel were the top Nifty losers.

The stocks which gained the most from BSE included names like Polaris Consulting & Services, Dilip Buildcon, Steel Authority of India, IFCI and Engineers India while the top losers in the index were Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Communications, HCL Tech, Mindtree and UCO Bank.
